Web TV Player ‘FreeTuxTV’ Updated for Ubuntu 11.10

Web TV player FreeTuxTV has been updated for Ubuntu 11.10. FreeTuxTV, which uses VLC as backend allows you to watch hundreds of free web TV channels in different languages.

The application comes with full screen playback, live recording, proxy and Ubuntu appindicator support. You can read more about it from our past articles.
To add the PPA and install FreeTuxTV in Oneiric, run the following commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:freetuxtv/freetuxtv-dev 
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install freetuxtv

Make sure that you install VLC media player from Ubuntu Software Center or else it won’t work. FreeTuxTV aims to support scheduled recording for TV shows in next version.
