Music Notation Symbols – The First Step In The Right Direction

Any musical piece is deeply rooted to music notation symbols.  They help us in deciding what the composer wanted to say.  They give us a better understanding of the nature of the composition and the little nuances make a big difference.

This can be seen in many ways.  A great example is in dynamics.  How soft or how loud a section or the music is to be played.  These markings make it clear to us and give a great insight to what the composer wanted.  A marking with a soft marking can mean many things such as a mellow feeling.

The colors of music are expressed by music notation symbols.  Music has many colors.  We do not think of music as a color because it is heard and not seen.  They do exist and I am about to try to explain it.  A sharp loud sound has a distinct color and on the other end a soft mellow sound has its own distinct sound.

I can go on about the colors of sound but you see from the example above that colors in music do exist.  There are many other factors that go into colors when it comes to music.  They include timbre and scientific terms I don’t want to go into.  The key the piece is in is another determination of color.

Minor keys are more of a mellow feel and I consider it more romantic.  A major key is more uplifting.  There are so many variants when it comes to colors in music.  Music theory is also dependent on music notation symbols.

Music notation symbols are a part of music theory.  Yes I hope I said that right.  Reading music is a part of music theory and in order to read music we need to know the symbols.  They are not hard to learn.  Like anything it just takes time and patience.
